Music is an important source of inspiration for many artists. Some use properties of music such as rhythm, contrast and repetition in their work. Others see colors and shapes when listening to music. With SoundLAB and Yuri Landman' s installations, explore how image and sound combine to form a new narrative.
Mikalojus Konstatinas Čiurlionis found in his work a symbiosis between visual art and music, using forms from musical theory as the basis for his visual language. In the east wing of the museum you can admire his work, in the west wing you can process your impressions into sound by playing the instruments of SoundLAB, or play the installation Factory Music.
Walk through the museum and process your impressions of the works of Harjo Neutkens and Djurre Duursma, among others, into homemade sounds with the SoundLAB installations. Discover the different sound worlds and make new music together.
