Welcome to the twelfth edition of Oranjewoud Festival!

During the opening concert, NPO Classical presenter Jet Berkhout will take you in your mind's eye on a walk through Oranjewoud's fairytale parkland. Thus it seems as if you are walking through old gardens in the early morning, relaxed floating around in the hotel swimming pool and finally watching the sun slowly set behind vast fields. Meanwhile, a long procession of artists parade past on stage. They bring Oranjewoud Festival in a bird's-eye view, so that everyone can get their fill and know the wonderful things to visit during the days of the festival.

Take for example the members of the Netherlands Wind Ensemble. On Saturday, they will let you experience all of life in one day. During the opening they will give a taste of that. Or the charismatic French cellist Camille Thomas. Chopin's love for the cello flows directly from her instrument, which Chopin himself still knew. The Vilnius String Quartet, traveling from Lithuania, introduces you to Čiurlionis, the most important artist and composer from this Baltic state. And then, of course, there is the Atlas Ensemble, which is enjoying its second residency in Oranjewoud. A number of soloists surprise you with beautiful sounds of wind instruments from faraway places. In between, Composer of the Fatherland Anne-Maartje Lemereis and Family-Zone programmer Remy Alexander enliven the whole with an interactive interlude. Singer Nynke Laverman sings a number of songs from her album Plant and Lajos Sarközy, the world's most virtuoso gypsy violinist, flies straight from Budapest to play the roof off the tent with his trio.
