Charismatic, inspiring and a true storyteller. The young French-Belgian top cellist Camille Thomas is it all. She is coming to Oranjewoud for the first time with her ambitious "Chopin Project. On the magnificent Stradivarius cello once owned by Chopin's best friend, cellist Auguste-Joseph Franchomme, together with pianist Julien Brocal, she will perform an ode to Chopin's love of the cello.
'I love you and that's all I can say, out of weariness and weakness.' These words are from the last letter Frédéric Chopin wrote in his lifetime. They are addressed to Franchomme, to whom he had earlier dedicated his famous cello sonata and who performed it at Chopin's deathbed. Like a testament to a rich life, each note echoes the close friendship that bound the two men together.
