If Paganini were alive today, would he envy Lajos Sárközy Jr? Coming from a famous Roma dynasty of seven generations of musicians, this violin virtuoso is considered one of the most important representatives of the new generation of gypsy musicians. Together with his trio, Lajos amazes the audience with his scintillating playing and acrobatic tricks, in which all kinds of classical pieces and well-known melodies pass by in a high tempo.
Lajos' father, a well-known bandleader in his day, taught him the tricks of the trade from the age of five. He took a classical violin course at the renowned Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, won many prizes and already at the age of 17 played with the Hungarian National Philharmonic and the famous pianist-conductor Zoltán Kocsis. As of 2015, Lajos is artistic director and conductor of the Gypsy Philharmonic Orchestra. He also toured the United States with Tim Ries, the saxophonist of the Rolling Stones. His loyal fans include musicians from the Berliner Philharmoniker, Gidon Kremer, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, Nigel Kennedy and many international actors and artists.
