The ten musicians of neo-fanfare 9×13 stage a parade for a performance by the local brass band Pro Rege. It feels familiar, almost nostalgic — but is that image really accurate? After all, isn’t 9×13 the collective that has spent years questioning, stretching and reinventing the very traditions of the fanfare? Is a Trojan horse being rolled in here? With Parade, 9×13 presents a loving tribute to art, music and imagination, as well as to the rich Dutch tradition of community music associations, where people come together to create something beautiful — where making music is not about perfection, but about joy and about the human being behind the instrument.
Parade begins at 15.00 at De Proeftuin. On the way to De Folly, the fanfare winds its way through the beautiful Overtuin, surprising the audience with a series of remarkable performances along the route. At around 15.30, 9×13 arrives at De Folly, where Brassband Pro Rege awaits, ready to join 9×13 in bringing Parade to a spectacular finale.
