Festivalhart de Proeftuin has from the beginning been the place to discover all kinds of things and to make the festival accessible to everyone. In 2024, Oranjewoud Festival will start something new: Bab Ad-Daar, Arabic for "the door is always open.
The program consists of three parts:
Dabke to go
Join the festive and exciting Dabke, a Levantine Arabic folk dance often performed at weddings and parties in Southwest Asia. Dabke combines the traditional circle dance with line dancing, an American dance form in which a group of people dance in one or more rows. The leader of the dabke heads the line, alternating between the audience and the other dancers. Fun!
Nagham choir
Tired of dancing, you can take a break and learn about the different musical traditions that unite this multicultural choir. You may also sing along, of course... 😄
Takht Sharqi
A Takht Sharqi music band plays traditional Arabic music in atmospheric and immersive performances, complete with instruments such as the ud, qanun, violin and percussion. Revel in the authentic atmosphere and multi-colored listening experience evoked by the music, with both nostalgic and contemporary elements, connecting you to its rich musical heritage.
