After preparatory residencies at Oranjewoud Festival in 2023 and 2024, the Atlas Orchestra is a reality. The Orchestra stems from the Atlas Ensemble, founded in 2002. It is an idea of Joël Bons, winner of the prestigious Grawemeyer Award for his groundbreaking composition Nomaden (2016). Nearly a decade later, he is making a big move with a 75-minute orchestral work for 40 top musicians from Asia and Europe with a never-before-heard collaborative sound. On June 21, the world premiere will take place at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. This can also be followed via a livestream.

During AtlasOrchestra Preview at Oranjewoud Festival , audiences will be taken on a musical adventure and be the first to witness the new spectrum of sound in several movements of the brand-new orchestral work. These will be explained by conductor Ed Spanjaard, assistant conductor Artjom Kim and the composer.
