After preparatory residencies at Oranjewoud Festival in 2023 and 2024, the Atlas Orchestra is a reality. The Orchestra stems from the Atlas Ensemble, founded in 2002. It is an idea of Joël Bons, winner of the prestigious Grawemeyer Award for his groundbreaking composition Nomaden (2016). Nearly a decade later, he is making a big move with a 75-minute orchestral work for 40 top musicians from Asia and Europe with a never-before-heard collaborative sound. On June 21, the world premiere will take place at the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. This can also be followed via a livestream.

During Atlas Orchestra at Oranjewoud Festival , the audience will be taken on a musical adventure and be the first to witness the new spectrum of sound in several movements of the brand new orchestral work. These will be explained by conductor Ed Spanjaard and the composer.
