The last concert in the Salon Podium is at the same time the most spectacular. After several years of silence that followed Joël Bons winning the prestigious Louisville Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition for his Nomaden, the renowned Atlas Ensemble is making itself heard again. Together with Bons, Oranjewoud Festival started a three-year project that should culminate in the first Atlas Orchestra in 2025.
Joël Bons: "In Nomaden, everything focused on the dialogue between the world-renowned French cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras and the musicians of the Atlas Ensemble. In the new work there is no star soloist, but all the musicians are protagonists and equals: they enter into dialogue with each other. The focus is on their interaction and the unprecedented total and mixture sounds that can be realized with this composition. I now hope to be able to realize something I could only dream of before.'
