The festival will be festively opened with songs in close harmony by The King's Singers, the most famous a-capella group in the world. With the program Songbird, they bring a program that fits perfectly into the environment of Parklands Oranjewoud. It combines music written about our feathered friends over the past 500 years with music by contemporary "songbirds" from recent decades. These are singers and songwriters who have given direction to pop music with their voices and musical ideas, inspiring the next generation of musicians and lifting them to new heights.
Over the years, The King's Singers have produced a wealth of arrangements of pop songs, jazz songs, folk songs and religious songs from around the world. The incredible variety of music found in the world today, condensed into one body of work. Their musicality, technique and versatility in repertoire are groundbreaking and unparalleled.
