Be surprised by the richness of percussion with German percussion virtuoso Christoph Sietzen in an immersive and accessible programme. With marimba, snare drum, and an impressive percussion setup, he takes you on a musical journey full of rhythm, colour, and expression.

In Verano Porteño by Astor Piazzolla, the marimba glows like a summer evening in Buenos Aires. Philip Glass’s Opening enchants with hypnotic patterns, while Arvo Pärt’s contemplative Variationen zur Gesundung von Arinushka offers a moment of stillness. Bach is given a surprisingly new sound world in the dance-like Suite for lute in E minor. Spontaneous, energetic, and captivating are Sietzen’s own improvisations for multi-percussion and snare drum.

With Jodler für Willi by Hubert von Goisern, a playful nod to the Alps resounds in a sparkling arrangement by the soloist himself. As a dazzling finale, the virtuosic B for Solo Percussion by Iannis Xenakis bursts forth—rhythmic, powerful, and full of raw energy. This concert proves that percussion is more than just rhythm: it sings, whispers, dances, and breathes.
