The Martin Fondse Voice Orchestra is a hybrid ensemble, combining instrumentalists and vocalists. Alongside a number of well-known names, it also features inspiring new musicians. The music blends composition and improvisation and engages with contemporary themes.
The women’s group Vox Sturnus adds a powerful new dimension. With reflective and incisive commentary and poetry by writers such as Shakespeare (for example, “My crown is in my heart, not on my head, not decked with diamonds and Indian stones” from Henry VI), they function like the chorus in a Greek tragedy.
The flexibility of the ensemble—almost every singer also plays an instrument, and all musicians are multi-instrumentalists—creates an endless palette of colours and sounds.
