Threads & Transcending

Connection is an installation by Bart Ensing with wires in trees. Commissioned by the festival, he is creating such an artwork in the monumental beech tree halfway through the Overtuin. Because the wires on the one hand follow the whimsical shapes of the branches and on the other hand are guided in tight parallel lines, an exciting contradiction between geometric and organic patterns arises. The installation subtly invites interaction by leaving open spaces for visitors to move through and past. At night, a metamorphosis occurs when the work is illuminated, giving the whole a different meaning.

Ascend is an installation Ensing created for the KunstWandelRoute Hummelo 2020. It shows a series of women, water nymphs, rising from a pond. The work is about the relationship man nature. At each spot, the nymphs are placed in such a way that they enter into a meaningful relationship with the landscape. In the case of the Overt Garden, the female figures seem to transcend the pond.
