Parking: Parking is not available here. Please use the central parking lot on Prins Bernhardweg. Disabled permit holders can use the parking lot at the De Blocq van Scheltingaweg.
Details: The park belonged to the area of Oranjewoud Estate, which was created in the 17th century by Albertine Agnes van Nassau. In the 18th century, the park was laid out in Baroque style. In the 19th century, after demolition of the old buildings, Huize Oranjewoud was built. By new owners, De Overtuin on the opposite side was laid out in the landscape style. The park of Oranjestein on the east side of the Overtuin was laid out in the same style by Lucas Pieters Roodbaard. The Overtuin has been owned by the municipality of Heerenveen since 1953.
