String ensemble Amsterdam Sinfonietta, known for its accessible concerts and outstanding orchestral playing, debuts at Oranjewoud Festival 2025 with no less than three performances. In this concert, the renowned chamber orchestra will perform a piano concerto by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart along with chamber music by Felix Mendelssohn. Soloist in Mozart is pianist William Youn, who has given concerts from Berlin to Seoul to New York and has been hailed by reviewers as "a true poet of the piano.

About his three piano concertos of 1782, among them number 12, Mozart wrote: "The concertos occupy the middle ground between too difficult and too easy. They are very brilliant and easy on the ears without falling into emptiness. Here and there even only connoisseurs can find satisfaction but in such a way that even non-connoisseurs enjoy without knowing why.' Mozart's great sympathy for his friend and highly esteemed colleague Johann Christian Bach, who had died shortly before, is evident from a Bach quote in the twelfth piano concerto. With Mendelssohn's String Quartet opus 80, the latter processed the death of his sister Fanny.
