Typhoon (Glenn de Randamie) is one of the most important Dutch hip-hop artists of the moment. He combines profound, personal, and socially relevant lyrics with a musically versatile style that blends rap, singing, and poetic elements. His authenticity, self-reflection, and sense of connection make his music distinctive and meaningful.

A week before his return to AFAS Live, you can experience the grand finale of his extensive club tour from last autumn at Oranjewoud. In his entirely new live show, everything comes together: Typhoon’s energetic stage presence, beloved classics, and new musical highlights—from his debut Tussen Licht and Lucht to the acclaimed Lichthuis and music from Beste Zangers 2025.

Oranjewoud Festival demonstrates that classical music is alive and far from museum-like. The genre has, in fact, only one true tradition: innovation. From Monteverdi to site-specific music, innovation has been the thread woven through the development of classical music for centuries. The festival sees itself as an incubator for new musical developments, which naturally includes cross-pollination and sources of inspiration from unexpected places. That is why the festival gladly makes space for one of the most influential cultural movements of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries: hip-hop.

What makes the genre remarkable is its highly refined approach to rhythm, time, and repetition, where groove and flow form the structural backbone. It is a culture in which sound production, language, and identity converge. Hip-hop renews artistic forms by using sampling, recontextualization, and collective memory as its starting point.
