Le Cercle Invisible is a living sound sculpture by the French singer-songwriter David Chalmin, placing the audience at its center. The immersive space consists of eight plexiglass speakers arranged in a large circle. The transparently colored panels were designed and built by the Dutch artist duo Strijbos & Van Rijswijk for the project Proximity, which was presented at last year’s Oranjewoud Festival.

You take a seat in the heart of this circle, alongside the artist and his instruments: a mechanical Una Corda upright piano, an electronic setup including modular synthesizers, and an electric guitar. The music you then hear reflects Chalmin’s diverse discography. Together with him, you embark on a journey through a richly layered sound world where electronic music, dark folk songs, ambient, and contemporary post-minimalist music merge seamlessly.
