The final concert that forms part of the artistic residency of cellist Johannes Moser is a classical cello–piano recital with Andrei Korobeinikov.
The Cello Sonata in A major by César Franck was originally composed in 1886 as a Violin Sonata, but was shortly afterwards arranged for cello by Jules Delsart with Franck’s full approval. The work is a textbook example of Franck’s cyclical form, in which thematic material returns and transforms throughout all movements. Stylistically, the sonata combines late-Romantic lyricism with a strong architectural coherence and a pronounced harmonic richness. In the cello version, the piece takes on a darker, more vocal character, further emphasizing its emotional intensity and long, sustained arcs of tension.
