The program Impressions Parisiennes, of which an album was recently released, celebrates the richness and elegance of the French repertoire. Debussy's Petite Suite pour piano à quatre mains, Ravel's famous Pavane pour une infante défunte and well-known songs by Poulenc, Fauré and Satie are specially arranged for this purpose for Quatuor Van Kuijk.
As an additional tribute to these five French composers, jazz pianist Baptiste Trotignon commissioned the quartet to write Ces Messieurs. In that piece, an entire universe seems recreated without falling into nostalgia or pastiche. They are miniatures in which the Van Kuijks' instruments are interwoven, completing a program that shimmers with pleasure.
