A Myth for Piano by composer and artist Mees Vervuurt is an intriguing solo performance at the intersection of dance, installation and movement theater. Slowly but with great intensity, percussionist Mees Siderius moves at dusk through a mysterious web of horizontally stretched wires. Everything crackles and creaks. The wires or strings come from an upright piano, but Vervuurt's actual instrument is your imagination. What do I see? What do I hear? What do I feel?
The figure in A Myth for Piano is reminiscent of Sisyphus, who keeps rolling his stone up the mountain.
