The new collaboration with the Schiermonnikoog Festival has immediately yielded a fine harvest. One of the important discoveries is Turkish pianist Salih Can Gevrek, who is causing a furor all over Europe with his convincing playing. He is the winner of the first Oranjewoud Festival Award, which was presented on Thursday, March 16, on Schiermonnikoog.
Salih Can Gevrek received the award in part because of his magical worlds of sound, communication with the audience and brilliant technique. Gevrek will play a Rachmaninov program on Monday afternoon, May 29, including his wonderful Moment Musicaux and some of his transcriptions.
