Edith Nobel has been appointed business director of Oranjewoud Festival by the Board of Trustees effective August 1, 2024. She will join artistic director Yoram Ish-Hurwitz on the festival's board for the coming period. Edith takes over from Dorien van Londen, who held this position for the past four years.
"We see in Edith a connector with a heart for the arts, a director capable of empowering people," said Supervisory Board Chair Ira Judkovskaya. "Her enthusiastic personality, business acumen and (regional) network give us confidence that the future of Oranjewoud Festival is in good hands with Edith and Yoram."
Edith Nobel: "Oranjewoud Festival does exactly where my heart lies: providing a broad stage for the unlimited possibilities of music, a testing ground for young composers and sound artists; stimulating children's creativity with music and, last but not least, making the connecting power palpable. I consider it an honor to dedicate myself to this."
Edith worked in the performing arts for 15 years with the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam, Muziekcentrum Vredenburg, MC Frits Philips and the Walter Maas Huis, among others. After moving to Friesland, she worked for 16 years in government, where she was, among other things, heavily involved in the candidacy of Leeuwarden-Fryslân as European Capital of Culture in 2018 and the provincial cultural policy.
