Commissioned by Oranjewoud Festival , composer Miranda Driessen created a composition for eight wind harps and passersby entitled Sanctuary of Sound (2023). The work has a total duration of 72 hours. It started on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. and ended on Monday, May 29, at exactly the same time. During the composition, the wind harps were tuned a good hundred and fifty times, forming different chords each time. Together with the wind, this formed the composition.
At times, musicians who were performing elsewhere in the festival passed by. They surrendered for five to 10 minutes to the chordal spectrum elicited from the installation by the wind.
