LEMONADE by Beyoncé

The difference between pop and classical music is usually pretty clear. But Wooden Elephant, a string quintet, whose members come from all over Europe, challenge this idea. Violist Ian Anderson arranged Beyoncé’s LEMONADE for strings, kazoos, a drill and spoken word by singer-songwriter MELA to capture the electronic sound of the album acoustically. The musicians explore the limits of what is possible on their instruments, while lovingly placing the music in a new context. The question whether this is pop or classical music doesn’t really matter. What does matter is the unique listening experience.
